Home Energy Audit Leads to Energy Efficiency
Milwaukee, WI --A representative from Wisconsin's Focus on Energy recently came to my home and conducted an energy aduit. I wanted to see what this was all about. Not only was the audit comprehensive (blower door test, thermal imaging camera, smoke, etc.) but it was also very informative. I found out that our house (built in 1987) had a lot of entry points for cold air. I also learned why our family room is cold in the winter. I am going to be making most of the recommended improvements on my own and will set my utility bill as a baseline and then I should see how this all changes by simply caulking around windows, blowing some insulation into the attic and several soffits, insulating outlet covers and a few other things. Feel free to check out the actual audit (PDF). This file is about 7mb.
Staples Energy Marketing & Services at the Aspen Utility Exchange
Nathan Baer of Staples Energy and Andy Staples of the Golf Resources Group (a division of Staples & Associates) attended the Aspen Utility Exchange in Aspen, Colorado from October 20-23, 2009. Andy gave a brief presentation on the successes of the Golf Resource Group program as it relates to energy efficiency and savings for golf courses. The poster presentation was titled, "Golf Courses Need Energy Efficiency, Too." Here is a description of the poster session:
"A utility program and research has identified high-impact opportunities via retro-commissioning of golf course irrigation central control systems, irrigation pump staging and clubhouse cart charging that significantly reduces kWh consumption and kW demand. All results have been packaged in or der to present energy reductions, carbon footprint reductions and total costs savings."
Nathan Baer gave a quick update on the Flex Your Power program and how Staples Energy is reaching the Hispanic audience with the energy efficiency message. Our tactics include text messaging, web advertising, high profile special events (see Ricardo Arjona event below) and powerful partnerships with Univision and TV Azteca.
Staples Energy also sponsored the cocktail reception and gave away some really cool LED fans. If you would like a fan go to our contact page and send us a message with your contact information and we will send one out to you.
Grammy-Award Winning Guatemalan Artist and Flex Your Power are Perfect Link
Los Angeles, CA-- On the weekend of August 21, 2009 Grammy Award winning artist Ricardo Arjona played for three nights in front of a total of nearly 28,000 fans and Flex Your Power (the California Statewide Energy Efficiency Program) - was there. Staples Energy Marketing & Services teamed with Arjona's concert promoter to stress the importance of energy efficiency to our Hispanic target audience. Concert goers viewed a three minute message about energy efficiency and received useful, simple tips in a Spanish language video message. As concert goers left the event they received "slide guides" which allowed them to learn about simple steps they could take at home to "save energy, save money and protect the environment." The event was a great success and it was repeated the following week in San Diego.
